Promoting a Safer Church

If you have experienced abuse, whether within the Church or elsewhere, we want you to know that you will be listened to, treated with respect, and taken seriously. We will do our best to support you and help you access appropriate specialist services.

If you share a safeguarding concern with us, we will listen carefully, explain what needs to happen next, and seek advice from the appropriate safeguarding professionals. We will only share information with those who need to know in order to keep people safe.

Our Commitments

  • Promoting a safe and healthy environment and culture in every way possible at all times.

  • Safely recruiting and supporting those with responsibility related to children, young people and adults at risk, whether paid or voluntary.

  • Responding promptly to every safeguarding concern or allegation.

  • Caring pastorally for those subjected to abuse, or others affected by it.

  • Caring pastorally for those against whom concerns or allegations are raised, or others affected by such.

  • Responding to those who may pose a present risk.

  • Appointing Safeguarding Officers, and ensuring all workers complete self-declaration forms, DBS clearance and training at least every 3 years.

  • Following the current guidelines and procedures published by the Church of England, copies of which are kept in the church office.

If you are concerned that someone you know is at risk of being abused, or is being abused, or presents a risk to others, please seek advice from one of the people named.
