In 2004 two pew frontals were removed. These were formerly situated between the chancel and the nave. The area between the choir and the nave has been extended with the addition of carpeted staging which also includes a rap to facilitate east access for wheelchair users to the raised chancel area.

The most obvious change is probably the new chairs. The old oak chairs, some of which may have come from the previous St Catherine's in Mile Cross, have been replaced by more modern, more practical and certainly more comfortable chairs.

Thus with these changes and without harming any of the exquisite and well-loved features of the church, St Catherine's has been gently nudged into becoming a place of worship more suited to the worship of God in the present time, and may well change again in the future to meet the needs of coming congregation.
